This section is a political hot potato, that has drawn fire from both sides of the political arena. Our position is that this is a legitimate section of law which the legislature has seen fit to enact into law. This section in not only about homosexual or gay partnerships, it is also about certain older citizens who, for various reasons have decided to live together but not marry. This section will also deal with many of the same issues as Family Law does. It can involve disputes over the characterization and division of property, determining paternity, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, all types of restraining orders, and similar issues. Domestic Partners can have child support cases with the District Attorney's office. It can also include cases that were decided in other states or countries. Criminal cases include District Attorney cases for criminal contempt relating to the failure to support your minor children.
