WELCOME TO ROBINSON'S RULES:
This page will reflect everything that I have
mentioned over the years of Merit. In other words if I think that these sayings
or rules are worth preserving you will find them here.
Tenant's Rule:
Robinson's Rules: Never pay cash for
your rent. In California, unless you have presented your landlord with a check
that bounced, a landlord cannot demand that you pay in cash. Also do not trust a
receipt given to you by the landlord or his agent. It may or may not stand up in
a court of law. Do not rely on money orders because you may or may not be able
to get copies of the cashed money order quickly. A copy of a personal check
drawn on a reputable bank is gold and cannot be so easily disputed. If you
follow my simple rules you will have less trouble should there ever be some
question over documents.
Landlord & Tenants Rule:
Robinson's Rules: in an unlawful
detainer, eventually the landlord will win by brute force, more money or
deception and subterfuge. So from a financial standpoint it very rarely makes
financial sense to go toe to toe with the landlord over an Unlawful Detainer. He
can outlast you and out spend you, if he wants to. For this reason it is just
easier to move and preserve your credit.
Rule For All Cases:
Robinson's Rules: Money is the
lifeblood of litigation.
Robinson's Rules: Always listen to
your attorney. If you cannot or will not, whether or not you are at fault, hire
another attorney that you can work with. There is nothing to be gained by
sticking with someone that you either do not respect or cannot work with. And
no, sticking with that person because you have paid them is stupid.
Robinson's Rules: If you represent
yourself, you have a fool for a lawyer, and a jackass for a client.
Robinson's Rules: To repeat the same
action over and over, while expecting a different outcome, is defined as
insanity. If you are represented by an attorney that has outlived his or her
usefulness, it is better to change horses midstream rather than ride the same
one into disaster. There is no shame in deciding that your attorney has given
all he or she has to offer and move on to someone else instead of waiting until
it is too late. If there is one thing that I see most often, it is the tendency
that people have wherein they are loath to change pitchers. Most would rather
stay with the old one and bitch about it than make changes. They wrongfully
believe that they are protecting their investment, when all they are doing is
being cheap and hardheaded.
Family Law Rule:
Robinson's Rules:
Women are the ones who must stop the insanity of picking bad men, because if
they don’t, we will no longer have a functioning society. Women must learn the
word “no” and mean it. Unless they clearly say to these
uncouth and non-functional men that they are not acceptable as partners, then
generation after generation of young men will end up being this way. It will
ultimately be your own fault. Each time you hear a profanity coming out of a
young person’s mouth you must stop it. If you see a parent talking like this in
front of their children, you must point it out to them that this is
unacceptable.
I want to see this stopped. Women like this cannot raise healthy
children. Their male children will become abusers and their female children will
become victims. If these lack of standards become the norm, we will produce
generations of children who are malfunctioning misfits. Each one of us is
ultimately responsible for failing to speak up. In a few more years there will
not be anyone left who will be able to speak up.
