9-11-01 Revisited
I usually don't
engage in political events on this web site, however since today is the third
anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and America in
General, I must. So if you have had enough politics for today, click off and
come back next month. For myself, I think that this day should be made into a
national day of remembrance, because too many people find it too easy to forget
what happened that day. September 11, 2001 should go down in history as yet
another day that should live in infamy. We should never, ever forget what
happened that day and how it changed us as a nation.
Today we are engaged in a great war
against the forces of evil. These forces present themselves this time as
terrorists. Unfortunately, too many people are so complacent in their
comfortable lives that they want to pretend that 9/11 never happened or worse
yet, that we caused it. When I hear these statements made by politicians and
members of the press, I shudder. I ask America, have we become so indoctrinated
with political correctness that we are willing to ignore the facts and rewrite
history because we are so uncomfortable with the truth? Unfortunately I think
that many of us are.
Members of the
press claim that our president is a liar because “we can’t find the
weapons of mass destruction.” Many others blame President Bush and
accuse him of fabricating the entire situation to benefit “Big Oil.”
Before we invaded Iraq, the world, through the United Nations, had reached a
consensus and believed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Now the
press claims that Bush fooled everyone in the world. They claim that he was only
avenging his father’s supposed failure in the first Gulf war. This kind of
thinking is dangerous and we should reject this kind of drivel for the claptrap
it is.
I heard a talk show host answer these
charges better than anyone that I have heard yet, when he said “If Bush
was so clever as to fabricate the entire operation and fool the world, then why
didn’t he plant weapons of mass destructions so that we would find them?”
That is an excellent question, yet the media is afraid to answer it. On one hand
President Bush is portrayed as the most clever man that ever held the post of
President, while at the same time being a stupid boob. My question is how could
such a stupid man plan such an intricate plan of deception? Wouldn't it require
just about everyone in the government and military to have conspired with him to
carry it off? Good question. Have you heard an answer yet? I haven’t.
I think that the real question that
we should be asking ourselves is “Where are the weapons of mass
destructions?” We know they existed because the major nations of the
world, including ourselves, provided them to Sadam. For years, we either gave
them to him or sold them to him. One way or another they existed before the
recent invasion. So where are they now? I have heard several countries nominated
as possible sites. They include Syria, Jordan and Iran among others. The news
media’s answer is that they don’t exist and never did. How can that be, they
were there before we invaded Iraq. So where are they?
The latest explanation is that
Sadam’s scientists lied to him about having weapons of mass destruction in the
first place. Do you have any idea how insane it would be for someone in his
regime to lie to him? If there is one thing that we have learned from former
dictators such as Hitler, Stalin and their ilk is that these monsters are
paranoid and trust no one. For Sadam to accept a lie would require the
cooperation and conspiracy of quite a few key people in his government. In a
dictatorship like his, the mere idea is absurd. It’s wishful thinking from media
types that have based their entire reporting on the belief that Bush lied and
that is all there is to it.
Let’s review a few interesting and chilling facts.
Remember the Soviet Union which fell apart only a few years ago? Well they had
weapons of mass destruction; thousands of nuclear weapons, biological weapons
and other nasty chemical weapons. Then one day everyone in the Soviet Union woke
up and no one was in charge. No one was at the top. No one had their finger on
the button that activated these weapons. They also had no way of verifying that
these weapons are secured by responsible and sane people. According to recent
reports, tons of weapons grade nuclear material and other nasty things are
unaccounted for. Where did they go? Who knows, because we don’t.
Why don’t we know?
Because no one is interested in knowing. Why isn't the media demanding an
accounting for these weapons? I believe that the media already know that the
answer to that question is so scary, that even they don't really want to know the
answer. Do you really believe that the terrorists have to go to Iraq to get such
weapons? Well they don't. There exists a very lucrative black market in all kinds
of weapons. My question is very simple. Why aren't we doing anything to try and
find out where these materials are? I don't know, do you?
Recently the Democrats have begun blaming Bush because the
Assault weapons bill has not been renewed. The Democrats are claiming that this
will let the terrorists come right into our country and buy semi-automatic
assault weapons at the local gun shop, thereby putting us all in jeopardy.
Let's look at the reality. The assault weapons bill was a bad law. It was a sop
to the anti-gunners on the left. It never worked. Do you really believe
that our silly little gun laws will keep terrorists from being armed? Well it
won't. The middle east is awash in fully automatic weapons, they don't need or
want semi-automatic weapons. Besides, they are too expensive. In the middle east
you can buy a AK-47 for around $50.00 to $100.00 U.S. One of our
Semi-automatic weapons will cost more than $500.00 to purchase. The simple
truth is that they don't want or need our guns, and our laws are meaningless to
them. The Democrats only bring this up because they are using the war on terror
to try and make political points by lying. Using the war on terror as a means of
advancing your political agenda, is unforgivable. This is not the way to win a
war on anything.
The Russians have
reported that when the school was taken over and so many children killed, the
weapons used by the terrorists had been planted weeks beforehand. They searched
for buildings being renovated and placed workers on the site to hide the guns
and other weapons. They brought the weapons in for the job. Since that attack
the Russians have discovered several other places that were recently being
renovated where weapons were stashed beforehand. The important thing is that
these weapons were fully automatic and were not purchased in Russia. If the
terrorists can do that in a country known for security in depth, do you really
think our silly little gun laws mean anything? Doesn't it worry
you to think that terrorists may have already done the same thing here? It sure
does me. Yet what is anyone doing about it? Nothing.
We are all
too comfortable and believe that everything is all right and we have nothing to
fear. We are fools. Unless we wake up and start accepting the fact that we are
at war, we are going to end up with one or more cities becoming smoking holes in
the ground. Or maybe we will wake up to find everyone in Boston, Moscow, Paris,
Berlin or God knows where all dead from a toxic poison or germ agent. I believe
that it isn’t a question of if it will happen, it is only a question of when it
will happen. When it happens we will all stand around looking for someone to
blame, because didn’t they all say Bush lied and the weapons never existed? What
good will the answer to that question be then? None. We must start
taking steps that are meaningful, rational and intelligent t if we intend to win
the war on terror. Political expediency has no place in a war on terror.
Too many people in
this country want to go back to September 10, 2001 and pretend that it never
happened. Well it did happen and the world changed forever. Get used to it. If
you pretend it never happened, then you will set us all up to be killed. Let’s
examine some recent developments and see if we are truly safer now than we were
on September 12, 2001.
A great heated debate rages in
California over illegal foreign nationals coming over our borders, primarily
from Mexico. Too many of our Democrat legislators see nothing wrong with this
situation. They espouse driver’s licenses for illegals, and they also claim that
illegals pose no threat to us. Now we see Republicans offering their own version
of similar bills. Republicans who should know better are now telling us that we
are “too compassionate” to send illegals back to where they
came from. More political correctness crap that is going to get us all killed.
These people have lost their minds.
In an effort to out - Democrat, the Democrats, that they have thrown caution to the
wind. Insanity reigns supreme and what evidence do I produce in support of this
proposition? Well recently several middle eastern men were intercepted in Texas
trying to infiltrate the United States posing as Mexican illegals. Don’t you
find that information startling? I certainly do. If we as a society had a brain
in our collective heads, we would throw all of these idiots out of office and
replace them with dogcatchers. At least a dogcatcher is clear on what his job
is; to catch dogs.
Maybe the problem is that the
terrorists see things clearer than we do and why would that be? It could be
because they are united in their religious hatred of our country and therefore
they do not restrict their thinking by political correctness. That single factor
gives them a significant advantage over us. They are not troubled by what an
illegal alien thinks or if his self esteem will be hurt or not. Nor do they care
if the Democrat politician bringing home the pork for his or her district is
re-elected or not. They only care about what their Ayatollah tells them to
think. Their only interest is creating a Muslim world by eradicating everyone
who is not a Muslim from the face of the earth. Is that politically correct? I
don’t think so, yet I don’t hear the PC crowd saying anything about that.
Because we are the great Satan and we deserve it. The same thinking got Julius
and Ethel Rosenburg executed for giving nuclear secrets to the former USSR.
So what are
we doing to protect ourselves? Well we don’t concentrate our efforts on
people from Muslim countries because that would be profiling. Instead we give
little old ladies from Los Angeles, deep body cavity searches looking for God
knows what. We look for Swedish suicide bombers, because we don’t want to offend
the terrorists. If animals treated predators this way they would all be eaten
alive. In fact we should use the animals as an example of how we should approach
looking for terrorists. If all of the proven terrorists just happen to be
Muslim, then wouldn’t it make sense to aggressively screen people from Muslim
countries where known terrorists are coming from instead of doing cavity
searches on old ladies from Sweden. I think so. If we just use plain old fashioned common
sense, instead of political correctness, we could do a better job of protecting
ourselves.
This so called homeland security is a
joke. We have to stop being boy scouts and get serious about stamping out
terrorism. Otherwise we will become so impotent as a country that, like the
former Soviet Union, and we will cease to exist.
As an attorney, I
am deeply concerned about our freedoms. I am also concerned that too many of our
politicians have become Democrats first, and American second, third or
whatever. Our inability to control our borders is just one example of why we
have to stop this nonsense and get serious about security. If we don’t, then we
had better place a large order for body bags from India or where ever such
things come from today. God knows that we don’t make such things here anymore. Do we?
In November we face a choice for
president. George W. Bush against John Kerry. I cannot stress enough the
importance of this election. You can be sure that the terrorists are certainly
watching us in their caves in god-knows-where. They are waiting to see how
committed we are to the war on terror or if we are merely large gasbags that go
in which ever direction the political winds blow.
We are in a war, deal with it, and we
need a commander in chief that can lead us. On one hand we have a candidate that
could certainly do a better job than he has done on occasion. On the other we
have a candidate who wants to live in the past and re-fight a war that ended
thirty years ago. I think of it this way, one man looks forward and the other
looks backwards. While we can sometimes learn from the past, in this case if
this gentleman becomes president, we will have a leader with no vision for the
future except to cut and run.
If we expect a
great man to emerge from the pack and lead us to the promised land like Moses,
you can forget about it. There are no great men, only great challenges that,
because of circumstances, ordinary men must face. In a nutshell that is the
choice we are facing. For various reasons, neither of the candidates are great
men. They are ordinary men facing a very serious challenge, the question is who
do we choose? One who has no vision other than to lead a chorus of
“Anyone but Bush.” While that is a clever catch phrase that will
surely resonate with the media, it will not get the job done. Why? Because it
offers no vision of the future. Nor does it spell out how Senator Kerry would
solve the problem. The other has a vision, that he is trying to implement.
It may not be perfect, but I have yet to see the Democrats support any plan that
he has. Doing that plays right into the terrorists hands.
Frankly I don't
care about Kerry's medals or Bush's records from the Air National Guard. Those
things happened a long time ago and the truth or falsity of either charge will
not help us defeat terrorists. Do you think that they care what happened thirty
years ago? Well they don't. They are living in a world that became frozen in
time hundreds, if not thousands of years ago. They don't care about Bush or
Kerry. All they care about is spreading their brand of hatred and terror. That's
all, nothing else.
They are simple
people who hate and live for a life in the next world. What happens to
them in this world is of little concern. The media tells us, that not all
Muslims are of the same political stripe as these people are. Yet I do not hear
a hue and cry from the so-called "Good Muslims" calling for
their brothers and sisters to turn these extremists over to the authorities.
Nor do I hear them even denounce these so-called radicals.
I also am aware
that many people like Kerry want to cut and run. They want to go back to the
world that existed on September 10, 2001. Yet they must know inside their hearts
that they cannot do that. I think that they believe that if they wish hard
enough it will all go away. If we just stop fighting the terrorists maybe they
will leave us alone and we can all get back to our formerly easy lives.
Well, we can’t. Unless we want to
send our children and our grandchildren to fight the same fight a few years
hence when the terrorists are stronger and are using the weapons of mass
destruction that we are harping about. The choice is clear. Either we fight them
now or we fight them later when they are stronger. One way or another, we are
going to have to fight them, so you had better get use to the idea. You don’t
have to like the idea, you just have to do what you need to do to protect our
country, our freedom and our way of life. Like your choice for president in
November, your decision of whether to fight or cut and run is also yours to
make.
I know that many
of you are thinking about the one thousand American troops that have given their
lives and blaming Bush. Before you buy into that crap, give this a little
thought. We haven’t lost just one thousand people in the war, we have lost
over four thousand. Did you forget what happened on September 11, 2001? On that
day this country lost over three thousand innocent men, women and children whose
only crime was to be born American or be in America. It is for those casualties
that the terrorists caused that we must bring the terrorists to justice. If we
are willing to turn away and let the skunks slink back into their holes, they
will only emerge again to wreak their destruction on all of us. They are not
going to go away, get used to it.
For those of you who persist in
counting casualties, I give you some food for thought. At the battle of
Gettysburg in the civil war we lost 36,000 men in a single day. Freedom is
neither free or easy. Freedom is bought and paid for in human blood and lives.
It always has been and always will be. If you think that 1,000 people is too
many, do yourself a favor and search the internet and see how many died at Pearl
Harbor on December 7, 1941 (less than 3,000) or D-day, or the Battle of the
Bulge, Flanders, Ypres, Bataan, Corregidor, the Inchon landings or other battles
of Korea and Vietnam. What you will see is staggering casualties. What else you
will see is that from battle to battle, the number of casualties have fallen as
medicine and technology has improved.
The number has been reduced, but not
eliminated. The price of freedom is high, it is not free. In World War two over
six million Jews paid with their lives on the alter of a mad man who hated
Jews. If you bother to look up what the so-called peace loving Muslims have in
common with Hitler, you will find that they also hate Jews. Which is why they
hate us. We support Israel and they hate Israel, in fact they are sworn to
destroy Israel. Therefore they hate and want to destroy us. Get it.
These people live
in the first century before Christ. In the Madras', the only thing that they
study is the Koran and their hatred for Jews. These are not benign peace loving
people, they are sworn to destroy everything not Muslim and establish a Muslim
paradise where they will go to heaven and have their 52 virgins for killing Jews
and Americans. AND THEY BELIEVE IT. The proof of that proposition
is found in the fact that suicide (read homicide) bombers will calmly walk
into a pizza parlor or get onto a bus in Israel and blow themselves up. They are
willing to die for the chance to kill more Jews. Mothers calmly send their
children to die for this insanity. Before Sadam was deposed, he use to send these people money
for striking a blow against Israel. Still want to claim that there is no
connection with Sadam?
We had better learn from Israel
instead of criticizing them. We see them build walls to keep suicide bombers and
terrorists out of their country and we call them racist and irrational. They do something that
we won’t do, which makes perfect sense if you want to protect your population
from terrorists, and we call them uncooperative. Would a rational society
expect them to just stand there and absorb the casualties? I don't think so. They are
called provocative because
they don’t agree with our crazy view of the world. There may come a time when we
will have to build walls to keep terrorists out.
Maybe we could learn a few things
about terrorists from Israel. I give you the following thought to ponder. What
if it is we who are totally full of crap and Israel is totally correct? What if
our politicians on both sides of the aisle are only interested in getting
reelected and really don’t give a damn who gets killed in the process.
Think about this, with the terrorists we know what they believe. But with our
own politicians, we have to carefully parse every word for deception and half
truths. While we decipher our own leaders statements, the terrorists plan, scheme and execute innocent people
in the name of Allah. If we allow this to continue, it will be us who will wear
sack cloth and hang our heads in shame because we allowed ourselves to be duped.
We are the last super power in the
world and we behave no better than a banana republic. Our forefathers would
shake their heads in disgust and shame. Our grandfather knew better, yet we are
confused. If you want to know the answer of what to do in November, ask yourself
what would my grandfather have done? Wouldn’t he have known the answer? I think
so. I leave you with this old cliché, "those who don't learn from
the past, are condemned to repeat it." What did you learn on
9-11?
